"can we live with Kate?"

 
Kate and Chloe invited us to Doylestown for a day at their pool, but because Gus is totally obsessed with his bike, it morphed into a day of triathlon training.

It is hard to keep up when you cannot peddle.

 
But Theo is a superstar in the pool.

 
He has no fear of the water.

 
And would climb out of the kiddie pool and head right to the deep pool.

 
Gus is much more cautious and did not like going in the deep pool.

It was a super fun day and as we pulled away Gus asked "can we live with Kate?" I was thinking the same thing.

two-wheeler

 
We gave Gus his first two-wheeler (plus two training wheels, but we don't talk much about those). He said it was the best surprise ever.

 
Theo inherited the trike, which he was also pleased with after the initial shock and horror of Gus receiving a new bike.

they still fit

 
Despite much protest from Gus, this morning I put aside some clothes to donate . . . and while Theo and I were making lunch, Gus set out to prove that his "snow jacket" still fits. Seeing him come down the stairs into the kitchen made my day. He completed the look with his "fastest shoes" that are two sizes too small and were in Theo's bin of future couture. "See they fit, Mum. See. They still fit."

 
Theo and I are not sure about this.

It was a long, hot, sometimes rainy day, so we made half a monster cake for Gus's half birthday.

 
And completed it with 3.5 candles and a wacky rendition of 'Happy Birthday.'

 
The monster has one green eye and seven blue eyes!

 
And it tasted good, too.
