blizzard #2
Going to talk to someone about a parking space . . . just kidding. We're not like that, besides, cars are not moving anywhere today.
The bats were for baseball.
Because nothing says baseball like 45 inches of snow.
And we just heard that Gus is going to be a Bedbug again so as far as he is concerned it is spring training.
After practice, when the boys were snuggly tucked in bed, a backhoe got stuck in front of our house for nearly an hour.
What was a backhoe doing out in the blizzard? Plowing snow, of course. Except not very well. Nothing plows like a plow.
Charles and Jesse's snowman. He is taller than I am!

happy 4th
Gus's birthday did not go as planned. Due to the predicted blizzard we decided to reschedule his highly anticipated Go Diego Go pizza party and our visit form Grammy and Grandpa. Poor Gus went to bed last night insisting that the weatherman was wrong and that it was not going to snow. But when he woke us up at 4 am this morning asking when his friends were coming, we already had 1/3 of the 28.5 inches that would fall. It was a long day. Thank goodness for TV, new marble track extension set and mustard and ketchup sprayers, baking, and our neighbors and Raj who came over for a birthday supper. We thought the day would be torture for all of us, but we ended up having a lot of fun and Gus seemed perfectly happy with his dinner party of adults and boys Theo's age. After supper he even drew me a thank you note. So sweet.
Teaching Theo to frost.
Oh, Theo.
Finally using the candle that he picked out at General Dollar back in November.
"Happy birthday dear Gussy, happy birthday to you/"
Amy, Julian and Josh from across the street. Charles and Jessie, Meri and Max, and Raj were here, too.
We're really into candles.

shabbat birthday
Today was Gus's Shabbat birthday at school.
Lots of dancing as usual but an extra special crown . . .
and the number four tee shirt he requested after seeing Delia's number three shirt at her birthday.
February 6th is also Miss Cindy's birthday and she led the whole school in singing happy birthday to Gus, herself and Uncle Michael (who was not there).
For snack I brought cupcakes and we sang to Gus again.
And then we read "The Snowy Day" by Jack Ezra Keats and had a big snowball fight.

Remy, Blaine, Miss Alicia, Gus, Thea
Miss Alissa and a pile of Caterpillars.

graduation
Sailed over to the Please Touch today.
Zach was there so we had an impromptu play date.
Theo and I rode the carousel while Gus and Zach played in the new tree house.
We had this carousel to ourselves, too.
We realized that this would be Gus's last opportunity to play in the three and under sections of the museum, so we had a last jump on the lilly pads . . .
and celebrated Gus's graduation with a push-up sherbet.
I hear it was delicious.
